The Institute of Humanity Sciences and Istanbul University cooperation

On June 13-15, 2022, the delegation of the Institute of Humanity Sciences visited Istanbul University in terms of the working visit.

The delegation included the Academic supervisor of the Institute of Humanity Sciences N.I. Almazova, the Director and the  Deputy Director of the Higher School of International Relations S.N. Pogodin and N.V. Bogdanova who took part in the official and working meetings in order to develop partnerships with the leading university of Turkey – Istanbul University. They also conducted negotiations with the Foreign Languages Department, the Literature and History Department, the German and Turkish Languages Department and the International Relations Department.

Successful negotiations with the Dean of the Faculty of Letters, Prof. Hayati Develi, were held. The meeting’s major issues were to attract students to international master's programs of the Higher School of International Relations − European Studies, Asian Studies, The Russian Federation, and to develop distance education programs / courses in linguistics (English, German, Russian). The parties decided to prepare and sign the Additional agreement between the Institute of Humanity Sciences of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the Faculty of Letters of Istanbul University basing on the signed cooperation memorandum.

The representatives also met with the head of the Research Institute of Turkology, Prof. Ali Syukryuk, to discuss the issues of the academic support for the development of the training program Foreign Regional Studies. Profile: International Cooperation. Module: Turkish Republic.

The Department of Slavic Studies represented by the head of the department Prof. Emine Inanyr showed great interest not only to the development of the scientific and educational cooperation and joint publications but also to the participation in the dissertation councils, thesis defences and the midterm assessment of the postgraduate students in the field of teaching and linguistics.

Among some other issues under the discussion were the joint publications in scientific journals and collections of articles of the Institute of Humanity Sciences Society. Communication. Education and Russia in the Global World. The basic topics of the publications are supposed to include history and archaeology, education, culture, applied linguistics, theory and methodology of teaching. In terms of joint educational activity the participants also plan to organize lectures, joined teaching and advanced training programs. The first online seminar The History of Russian-Turkish Relations will take place in November 2022 with the participation of the professors from the Higher School.

The Department of German Language and Literature represented by Prof. Janan Schoenoze-Ayat confirmed that invited E-Tandem professors would participate in the program for foreign language studies (German, English, Russian).

In terms of the visit, the meeting with representatives of the International Office was also held.

It was decided to hold a promotional video-bridge for Turkish students to inform them about the current exchange programs, winter and summer schools of the Institute of Humanity Sciences (i.e. the summer school of the Higher School of International Relations Russia in the Global World: Greater Eurasian Partnership). The International Office representative Mustafa Tanriverdi – the coordinator of the scientific international grants TÜBITAK-Science Fellowships and Grant Programs Department – announced the possibility of applying for joint grants.

All the meetings were organized on a highly professional level. Both parties showed a deep interest to further scientific and educational cooperation.
