Entrance Training Courses

We offer Russian language courses (A1-B2 levels) on a regular full-time basis.

Program duration — 1–7 months.

We also offer TORFL preparation.

Courses take place at 28 Grazhdanskiy av.

Entrance training courses (ETC)

·           ETC are essential for foreign students for continuing their education at Russian universities in any speciality;

·           ETC comply with the state educational standards of preparation programs for foreign citizens to master basic educational programs;

·           ETC give students opportunities to learn Russian language and feel free in communication with natives;

·           ETC help to deepen and systematize the knowledge in majors as well as to eliminate knowledge gaps.

The Department for preparation of foreign citizens is certified by the Russian Federation Ministry of Education and Science for the implementation of university entrance programs.

All training programs comply with the state educational requirements. They will allow foreign citizens to master professional educational programs, which were developed with the active participation of specialists of the Higher School of International Education Programs (HS IEP) of SPbPU. These programs and curricula in all academic disciplines take into account the standards of the Russian secondary school and the first university courses. More than 50% of the time is devoted to learning Russian. When working on the programs, the results of studies of the foreign students' adaptation processes were considered.

Additional training programs for foreign students 

Entrance training courses (basic program)

Basic program is for students who start their training from September 15 to November 1.

• Duration - 1 year;
• Term - 10 months;
• Total hours - 2376 (1050 in-class learning);
• The subjects are studied according to the major.

Tuition fee - 215 000 rubles

Entrance training courses (advanced program)

Advanced program is for students who start their training from November 1.

• Duration - 10,5 months;
• Term - 8 months;
• Total hours - 2376 (1050 in-class learning);
• The subjects are studied according to the major.

Tuition fee - 200 000 rubles

Entrance training courses. Russian as a foreign language (basic  program)

Entrance training courses. The basic program is for students who start their training from September 15 to November 1.

The program gives opportunities to prepare for testing for the I certification level of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language and for a comprehensive exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia and the basis of the legislation of the Russian Federation.  If a group is formed, it is possible to prepare for testing for the II certification level of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language.

• Duration – 1 year;

• Term - 10 months;

• Total hours - 2520 (1050 in-class learning);

 • Disciplines - Russian LLanguage, Business Russian, History, Social Studies, Literature;

 • Tuition fee - 215 000 rubles

Entrance training courses. Russian as a foreign language (advanced program)

Entrance training courses. The advanced program is for students who start their training from November 1.

The program gives opportunities to prepare for testing for the I certification level of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language and for a comprehensive exam in Russian as a foreign language, the history of Russia and the basis of the legislation of the Russian Federation. If a group is formed, it is possible to prepare for testing for the II certification level of proficiency in Russian as a foreign language.

• Term - 8 months;
• Total hours - 2520 (1022 in-class learning);
• Disciplines - Russian Language, Business Russian, History, Social Studies, Literature;
• Tuition fee - 200 000 rubles.

"One Semester entrance training courses" (from 01.02 to 15.03)

The program is recommended for:

1. Students who plan to further enroll in English bachelor's/master's degree programs;
2. Students who plan to continue studying in entrance training courses in the next academic year.

• Duration – 7.5 months;
• Term – 4.5 months;
• Total hours – 1044  (464 in-class learning);
• Disciplines – Russian, mathematics, and social studies.
• Tuition fee - 120 000 rubles.

"Semester entrance training courses" (for students who have studied for a semester on the basis of the partner organization, from 15.01 till 15.02)

• Term of the program - 7,5 months;
• Term of training - 6 months;
• Total volume of hours - 1188, including 650 contact hours;
• Disciplines are studied, depending on the profile:
• Cost of training - 120 000 rubles.

Training of foreign students is carried out in groups of up to 12-14 people.

Classes are held in the morning and afternoon hours 5-6 days a week.

Students may use both library and electronic resources in their individual work.

Excursions around the city and its neighborhood are organized for students. Tutor service is also available. In the student’s campus there are several clubs such as Russian speaking club and video-music studio Red Brick. Cooking workshops, discussions of books, sports events and different celebrations are organized.

Students who have successfully completed the entrance training course receive a university-approved certificate.

During the studies at SPbPU foreign students are provided with the University campus dormitory.

To enroll in an entrance training course, it is necessary to fill out an application form.

Entrance requirements:

• Original passport and its copy (valid at least until May 2024);
• Documents of education;
• Minimal age - 17 years old.

Admission for foreign students to SPbPU starts February 1, 2023.

Admission ends October 1, 2023 (for students from countries with a visa-free regime; for students from countries with a visa regime – check the information in the Department of Foreign Students Affairs).
